Man dies in Edenbridge tree crash

A man has died when his car smashed into a tree, police revealed today.

The crash happened last night at Hosey Common Road, Crockham Hill near Edenbridge.

The 30-year-old driver of a grey Renault Megane, from Westerham, suffered fatal injuries between the junctions with Main Road and Froghole Lane.

He was declared dead at the scene of the incident.

No other vehicles appear to have been involved and there were no other people in the car.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "The man's family have been told and the coroner's office notified about the incident.

"No further details about the man are being released at this time.

"The road was closed while emergency services attended the incident and reopened just after 5.30am."

Kent Police's Serious Collision Unit is investigating.
