A man in his seventies has died four days after a car crash in Hildenborough.

The pedestrian is believed to have been hit by a blue Volkswagen Polo in Philpots Lane at around 6pm on Saturday. He died of his injuries last night.

A resident who lives close to the accident spot described the scene as she looked out of her window and saw "blue flashing lights" through the early evening gloom.

The woman, who did not want to be named, said: "I was drawing the curtains when I saw all the lights.

"I’ve lived here for 50 years and there have been a few minor traffic accidents at that spot.

"It’s a long road, but it narrows at that point so when I saw the emergency services I wasn’t too surprised."

Philpots Lane remained closed for more than six hours while crash investigators examined the scene. The road reopened at 12.30am.

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses. If you have information, call
