AN ELDERLY man died at the scene of a car crash in over the weekend.

Paramedics attempted to revive the 86-year-old after his car hit a bus stop outside Bromley Magistrates Court, on London Road, on Saturday, just after 9am.

Police closed the road for more than two hours as the fire brigade and air ambulance paramedics treated the victim.

The driver was the sole occupant of the car but a woman who was waiting for a bus at the time was hit by flying debris.

A London Ambulance spokesman said: "Our staff treated a female patient at the scene for shock, and another female patient was treated for minor injuries and taken to the Princess Royal Hopsital in Orpington."

The London ambulance team received the call at 9.12am and dispatched an air ambulance and three vehicles to the scene at the top of Bromley High Street.

The traffic investigation unit remained at the scene until shortly after 11.30am when the road reopened.
