Man cut free from car wreckage

A MAN in his 60s had to be cut free from his car following an accident in which he received shoulder and chest injuries.

The accident happened when two cars collided in Maidstone Road, Staplehurst at about 6.15pm on Friday.

Three fire engines from Maidstone, Marden and Cranbrook attended the incident, and officers used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the injured man, who is from Staplehurst. He was taken to Maidstone Hospital.

A second man, in his 20s, who had been driving the other car, was also taken to hospital suffering from shock.

The road was closed for around 45 minutes following the incident.
