Man cleared of rape

A man sentenced to six and half years in jail for rape has won the fight to clear his name.

Masimba Nyemba, 33, from Chatham, had his conviction for rape quashed at the Court of Appeal last month with judges ordering a new trial.

His lawyers argued at an earlier appeal hearing that his alleged victim’s complaint was “fantasy.”

A judge at Maidstone Crown Court formally ended proceedings against Nyemba on Wednesday after prosecutors asked for the case to be discontinued.
