A man arrested in Kent has appeared in court charged with the murder of two teenage girls.

Ahmad Otak, from Wakefield, is also accused of the kidnap and false imprisonment of Kimberley Frank, 17, and 18-year-old Samantha Sykes.

The 19-year-old, who was arrested in Dover, was remanded in custody by Wakefield magistrates this morning. He will appear at Leeds Crown Court via videolink tomorrow.

Miss Frank and Miss Sykes were found stabbed to death in a flat in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, on Saturday.

Kent Police arrested three people in Dover on suspicion of murder.

Otak was charged last night. A 19-year-old woman and a man aged 23 were earlier released without charge.

The bodies were discovered at the property in Barden Road, Wakefield, on Saturday.

The flat and the surrounding area were sealed off for forensic examination, which continued over the weekend.

Post-mortem examinations carried out on Sunday evening revealed Miss Frank and Miss Sykes, both from West Yorkshire, died from stab wounds.

The three arrests were made by Kent Police in Dover - about 250 miles from Wakefield - after officers were called to Gloster Way at about 4.15am on Saturday.
