Man arrested for wasting police time

POLICE investigating an alleged racially related stabbing in Kent have arrested a man on suspicion of wasting police time, perverting the course of justice and theft.

The 33-year-old Gillingham man was arrested yesterday evening.

Earlier police appealed for a Good Samaritan who helped a man in Cuxton who complained he had been stabbed with a broken bottle after a gang of teenagers shouted racial abuse at him on Monday evening.

Officers are no longer appealing for information about the incident. The arrested man was in police custody.
