Man arrested after nightclub stabbing

A MIDDLE-AGED man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing at Merlin's nightclub in Leysdown on Sheppey.

The 19-year-old victim was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital after the incident on Sunday but has since been discharged.

Police arrived at the nightclub within minutes of the stabbing but a suspect had already left the club. A 50-year-old man was arrested shortly afterwards at a public house at Minster.

Police have seized CCTV footage from the club and crime scene investigators were called to gather forensic evidence.

Det Insp Mick Costello, who isn heading the enquiry, said: "We do have a suspect in custody, but we would still welcome information from members of the public who can help us with this investigation."
