Male passenger killed in road smash horror

A 26-year-old man has died in hospital after the car he was travelling in crashed on Monday afternoon.

He was a passenger in the only vehicle involved in the accident on the London-bound carriageway of the A299, Thanet Way, near Chestfield at 3.45pm.

The man, who was from Broomfield, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital by air ambulance, but he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta, a 22-year-old Herne Bay woman who is thought to be the victim's sister, suffered superficial injuries.

The road remained closed until 7pm while the vehicle was recovered and crash investigators examined the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact PC Guy Ditcher at Kent Police's Serious Crash Investigation Unit on 01622 600970.
