Part of West Malling High Street was cordoned off for three hours yesterday following a mercury spillage.

The spill took place outside Costa Coffee.

Two fire engines and a special response unit were called to the scene at 4.21pm yesterday.

They set up a cordon around the area while the clean-up operation took place, before leaving the scene at 7.30pm.

It is not yet known what caused the spillage.
