M20 death crash car 'was parked on hard shoulder'

POLICE have released further details of a road crash on a Kent motorway in which a man was killed.

The collision, which involved a French-registered lorry and a Bulgarian-registered Ford Mondeo, happened on the London-bound carriageway of the M20 between junctions 2 and 1, near Brands Hatch, at around 5.20am on Monday.

Police say the Ford was parked on the hard shoulder of the motorway when it was struck by the lorry. A Highways Agency vehicle and crew were on their way to help the occupants of the car when the tragedy took place.

A 45-year-old Bulgarian man who was a front seat passenger in the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another person in the car suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Queen Mary's Hospital at Sidcup.

The motorway was closed for around six hours after the incident causing traffic delays across a wide area of north Kent.
