'Lucky' puppy on the mend after fence ordeal

A PUPPY had to be rescued by the RSPCA after being found hanging from a fence.

The six-month-old Rottweiller, called Bassett, had climbed over a fence and got in a tangle while his owner was at work.

Neighbours called the RSPCA after spotting the dog was unable to free himself from the garden fence in Halling.

The puppy was thought to have been hanging for more than an hour but is now recovering with its owners.

Animal collection officers Zenon Brown and Brian Milligan freed Bassett and took him to the vet for a check-up.

Mr Brown said: "This poor dog was very lucky. He has been treated for some injuries as a result of his hanging ordeal, but thankfully it looks as though he is going to be fine."
