YOUNG and old will get a sizzling line-up of music, food and entertainment at this summer’s Lounge on the Farm.

Funk, acid-house country and indie pop will take the roof off the cowshed at Merton Farm, south of Canterbury, and diversions will include the Arabesque tent and the Village Green Festival Folly.

The message from co-organiser Matt Gough is "take your children with you".

Alongside ‘Sopranos’ theme band ‘Alabama 3’ will be returning garage rockers Billy Childish and The Musicians of the British Empire and one of the country’s hottest unsigned acts, The Wombats.

Also back are teenage rock n’rollers Kitty, Daisy and Lewis and there’s a laid back dance vibe from Lounge lizard Barry Ashworth and the Dub Pistols.

Matt said: "We have got some great acts back like Billy Childish and Daisy, Kitty and Lewis but there’s also many local acts who people will have spotted somewhere before. Personally I can’t wait to hear Alabama 3 again.

"Everyone involved with setting this up is coming together in the right way."

Keeping children occupied is not going to be problem with nature trails and other activities hosted by staff from the Canterbury Environment Centre.

Matt said: "We have sold a lot of family tickets and that is exactly what we want. Don’t leave your kids at home. Bring them with you.

"Apart from anything, we are great value for money at under £50 for the three days."

A quarter of the 6,000 tickets for festival have been snapped up already.

Food and drink will revolve around local produce and the organisers have the awful job of sampling the festival’s own cider to be made at Pawley Farm near Faversham in the coming weeks.
