Lorry load of trouble for drivers

Commuters faced long tailbacks in Gravesend town centre after a container literally fell off the back of a lorry.

The red LV Transport haulier was driving past the BP garage in Milton Road at about 5pm when its entire back came loose and crashed to the ground.

BP shift leader Gwenda Wilkie said it created chaos as people tried to drive in and out of the forecourt.

She said: "It just sort of crashed and there was a bang. It was very lucky there was no-one there.

"We had to shut and lost quite a lot of money. It was a busy time."

Police were at the scene waiting for lifting equipment to remove the back end of the lorry from the road.
