Traffic between Dover and Folkestone came to a standstill this afternoon after a lorry caught fire on the westbound carriage of the A20.

The incident – which decimated the cab section of the vehicle – happened at around 1pm, but delays were still ongoing well into the afternoon.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service sent four appliances to tackle the blaze, which took almost one hour to bring under control, with the carriageway closed during this period.

The cause of the fire is thought to have been accidental.
