A SECTION of the M2 was closed for two hours after a collision involving a lorry and a flat bed truck.

The accident happened just past the slip road for the junction four Gillingham turn-off on the coast-bound carriageway on Wednesday.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the scene at 9.55am.

Debris blocked two lanes of the motorway. Police closed a section of carriageway and diverted traffic off at the slip road and back on to the motorway on the other side of the junction.

Both drivers were safely out of their vehicles when emergency crews arrived.

The two men were treated for minor injuries at the scene and the driver of truck was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with a back injury.

Fire crews remained on scene to ensure the area was safe. The road was cleared by around noon when both lanes of the carriageway were reopened.
