Gridlock has been caused around the Dartford crossing after two lorries crashed inside one of the tunnels.

No-one was injured in the collision, but it caused an oil spill inside the west tunnel, the A282, which is currently being cleaned up.

The Highways Agency said the crash happened just before 11am and traffic had to funnel through the one remaining tunnel.

By 1pm, after the spill had been cleaned up, one lane was able to re-open in the west tunnel, although there are still reports of heavy traffic in the area and on the A2 in north Kent.
