Trains between Ramsgate and Dover Priory were halted at around 11.09pm after officers from British Transport Police (BTP) were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

A statement from Southeastern said: “Due to an emergency services incident, trains are being delayed between Ramsgate and Dover Priory and may be revised or cancelled.”

Paramedics were also called to the scene and the victim was taken to hospital for what are described as “life-changing” injuries.

A BTP spokeswoman added: “They [the victim] are in a stable condition and the incident isn’t being treated as suspicious.”

Today, the force clarified that the woman was not struck by a train but was electrocuted after falling onto the tracks.

Trains were held on the line for around three hours, with services only resuming at around 2.10am.
