HAVE you helped improve your community by tackling things like vandalism, nuisance neighbours, harassment, intimidation and graffiti?

If so the Kent Police Authority (KPA) would like you to put yourself, your school or a group forward for the Young People’s Respect Awards 2007.

Chairman of the KPA, Ann Barnes, said: “I’m actually going to present the award to the school that has made the most effort to tackle anti-social behaviour. I really want the people of Kent to take the opportunity to put an individual or group forward between the ages of 10 and 20 years. So often we moan about youngsters but in fact it is the minority that cause problems.

"There are lots of individuals and groups who are in fact making a difference to communities in a positive way – and this is just one way we can say thank you to them.”

The awards are sponsored by The Kent Messenger Group, Kent Police, the Home Office, Charlton Athletic, Kent People’s Trust and the High Sheriff of Kent.

Drink spiking, text bullying, and arson were among the many anti-social issues tackled by nominees in last year’s event.
