Knife threat raid at petrol station

POLICE are hunting a robber who threatened a sales assistant at a petrol station with a knife.

The frightened assistant stayed calm, despite having a knife brandished at him, and alerted the police. The robber ran off empty-handed from the Total Service Station in Dock Road, Chatham.

Total has now offered a £1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the offender.

The robber, who is described as stocky, walked into the shop area of the garage at about 9pm on Monday and walked up to the sales assistant armed with an 8in knife. He threatened the assistant and demanded cash.

Police officers are currently analysing the CCTV footage from the garage and have given a description of the robber. He is described as about 5ft 7in and was wearing a black balaclava and a navy top with dark trousers.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact police on 01634 884252 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
