Kent's smallest school to stay open

RIPPLE School has won its fight to stay open after an independent adjudicator rejected Kent County Council's proposals to close it.

Schools adjudicator Dr Alan Billings said that standards at the school, the smallest in the county, "were not such as to give alarm" and that the school had proved itself financially viable.

"It provides a good learning environment for those children who flourish in a small school," he said.

Head teacher Sue Hope said: "This is telling Kent: 'Hands off small schools'."
