Northants batted out the final day as Kent's opening county championship clash ended in a tame draw.

Kent's limited bowling attack took just five wickets on Friday.

Opener Stephen Peters struck a century and Nicky Boje was unbeaten on 70 as the visitors reached 348-7 before play was brought to a close.

Perhaps the highlight came when Kent skipper Rob Key took his maiden first class wicket after youngster David Willey played on to his stumps for 47.

Key told Kent's official website: ""With our limited bowling attack it was always going to be hard to bowl them out twice.

"There were moments in the game where we might have gone on to force the pace, but Northamptonshire were just happy to bat it out for a draw."
