None of us are happy with the recent results and the only good thing about our schedule is that we have a chance to get back to winning ways quickly.

Sometimes going away in cricket can be beneficial as there isn’t the pressure to perform in front of your home crowd, as has been shown in wins at Chelmsford and Lord's.

We can’t get too disheartened about the last two losses. Northants have probably their best team for several years and Yorkshire have a number of past and present England players in their ranks. We know we haven’t hit our straps yet.

There were great individual performances from Darren Stevens and Adam Riley against Northants but we haven’t come together as a team yet.

The thing about Stevo is he always makes it look so easy when he bats. He never looked like getting out at any stage in that innings last week and the statistics emphasised what a great knock it was. It amazes me how he hasn’t been involved in an England one-day team. His record over the last few years in one-day cricket is incredible.

Adam Ball also did well to stay with Stevo and take the game into a fourth day which looked unlikely at one stage.

They got us a lead of 100 and in the end had we been 150 ahead that may well have been a winning score as the ball was ragging out of the rough and Treddy was causing their batters all sorts of trouble.

We just weren’t good enough against Yorkshire on Sunday and they outplayed us.

From a personal view I have just been too inconsistent. I am working on how to create the same feeling every time I walk out to bat instead of good one day and all over the place the next. That is the challenge for me.

We hope Cardiff will be the place to do this. We watched Gladiator on the coach on the way up and that may well be the answer to our problems.

Matt Coles and Dewald Nel are back with us, which will help in terms of the depth of our bowling resources. It’s only the beginning of May and there is a lot of cricket left to be played.

Travelling by bus to games means none of the boys get any speeding fines – I am really talking about Stevo and myself.

I am a little bit worried, though, about what time the bus will leave the hotel every morning as we have to be there incredibly early for Jarre’s morning hit.

In general, though, I think everyone prefers travelling by coach.
