KCC chief backs Lydd expansion

Desperately needed jobs will be brought with the planned expansion of Lydd airport.

So says Cllr Paul Carter, leader of Kent County Council, who is backing the controversial scheme.

He says the expansion would provide a boost to jobs in the area and that holiday-makers would benefit.

Campaign group FLAG (Friends of Lydd Airport Group), which supports the development of the airport, says Cllr Carter's view would be incorporated into the formal planning application when it is considered by Shepway council.
