Jools in concert on home ground

JOOLS Holland will entertain a home crowd when he headlines at the first Medway Summer Concert this year.

Jools has taken an active interest in the area since buying Cooling Castle, near Rochester, in May 2002 and will cement his Medway links by playing at the concert.

Former Squeeze member Jools and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra will launch the three-day series of concerts at Rochester Castle Gardens on Thursday, July 24. The 45-year-old musician is a real catch for Medway Council in their bid to promote the gigs.

A council spokesman said: "Medway Council is delighted that Jools will be playing his own incredible blend of music and using his unique humour and presenting skills in Medway.

"He is one of the most talented musicians of his generation, having played with artists including Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Sting, BB King, Luther Vandross and Paul Weller.

"He has played at some of the world's major venues and festivals and we're delighted he's going to play in Medway too."

For more information about Jools' visit to Rochester, including ticket prices, please visit visitor.information@medway.gov.uk or call 01634 843666. The full programme for the concerts will be announced soon.
