Welling boss Jamie Day has bolstered his forward line by signing striker Jon Main.

Day, who has lost frontmen Loick Pires and Andy Pugh to Blue Square Bet Premier sides since the turn of the year, has moved for Main to help boost his squad.

Main, whose previous sides include AFC Wimbledon and Tonbridge, said on twitter: "Delighted to sign for Welling United, as a kid I always wanted to play there. Looking forward to pre-season."

Day has already signed five players, after midfielder Lee Clarke penned a one-year deal, while other players are believed to have agreed to stay but the paperwork is yet to be finalised.

The Wings boss is also thought to be in advanced talks with another player, who could sign this week.

The 31-year-old (pictured) became AFC Wimbledon's then-record signing in November 2007 after scoring 52 goals in 57 appearances at Longmead. He hit a record number of goals in Blue Square Bet South in 2008/09 but has struggled with injuries in recent seasons.

Meanwhile, Welling's pre-season schedule is taking shape with Crystal Palace confirming they will be sending a side to Park View Road on August 4.

Friendlies: July 14 Charlton (H), July 21 Faversham Town (A), July 28 West Ham XI (H), July 31 Cambridge (H), August 4 Crystal Palace (H).
