Joe Denly is rated very doubtful as Kent Spitfires prepare to face Surrey Lions in the Friends Provident t20 South Group at The Oval on Friday (4pm).

The England one-day international suffered a calf strain while fielding at Gloucester on Sunday, and his absence will be blow, after finding form, following a disappointing start to the season.

Denly (pictured) could to be out for about a week, and will also miss Sunday’s game against Somerset Sabres at Beckenham on Sunday. The county have named 13-man squad for The Oval with Amjad Khan and youngster James Goodman also included.

Khan has missed three t20 games with a hamstring problem, picked up while bowling in the championship match against Nottinghamshire at Tunbridge Wells

Kent’s former Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds is set to face his old side in the game, with the return at Beckenham next Wednesday.
