Two drivers claimed their maiden Formula 2 victories at Brands Hatch over the weekend.

On Saturday Brit Jack Clarke topped the podium at the Kent circuit and the following day Spaniard Ramon Pineiro was celebrating a first win of the season.

Current championship leader Mirko Bortolotti had to settle for a fourth and second place finish.

Clarke started third on the grid for the opening race and took the lead after squeezing past pole-sitter Tobias Hegewald and Pineiro from where he never looked back.

The race winner said: "It’s perfect. I couldn’t have written that. I’ve not looked like knocking on the door of a win this year so to come to Brands Hatch and to smash it, so to speak, is a big deal for me."

Pineiro clinched second and then went one better on Sunday.

He beat Bortolotti off the line and headed the field into the first corner where he remained until the end of the race.

"That was just fantastic," said the 19-year-old.
