Is this final proof of the legendary Ghost Clown of Bearsted Green?

White Horse regular Grant took this snap on his digital camera during an afternoon in the pub on Tuesday, and only realised later that he could have captured evidence of the mysterious phantom - said to only appear when the circus is in town.

And in a remarkable coincidence the snap coincided exactly with the arrival of John Lawson circus, who were that afternoon setting up on the green next to the pub.

According to legend, the phantom is that of Victorian jester Stitches the Clown, who died laughing after being shown the secret to perfect prat-fall by an ancient clown guru.

But the secret died with him - and now the spirit of Stitches returns every year hoping pass on the secret to the next generation of clowns.
