Is it a bird? Is it a blade? Is it ever going to pass?

What were these objects being transported through the Medway Towns on Monday?

At first glance they could be cruise missiles being displayed at some sort of Soviet-style military parade.

Or perhaps oversized bowling alley pins ready for a giant strike?

They were in fact the first of 78 massive propellers being transported from Chatham Docks to a new windfarm on Romney Marsh, near Ashford.

The slow-moving convoy left the port under police escort at 10.30am, making its way to the Medway Tunnel and on to the Wainscott bypass before turning onto the the M2 to continue its journey through Kent.
