Invicta Dynamos swoop for defenceman Chris Borges

Invicta Dynamos have completed the signing of 21-year-old Canadian defenceman Chris Borges ahead of the January transfer deadline.

Borges will go straight into the squad for this Sunday's home clash with Chelmsford Chieftains in ENIHL Division 1 South.

Coach Kevin Parrish (pictured) said: ""Over the last couple of weeks I have been looking at how best to strengthen the team and, with two of our defenceman recently succumbing to lower body injuries, it was a no-brainer that a ‘D’-man was what we needed most.

"It has been a long time since we have had an ‘import’ defenceman on the books but I’m confident the squad already has enough offensive power and, coupled with the recent return of Jack Tarczycki, we’re now also shaping up a little better at the back.

"Chris is already over here and has been training with us this week and we hope he will quickly feel at home given that his brother has been with us since September.

"Assuming all goes well with his International Transfer Card (ITC) he will be straight in the thick of the action on Sunday against Chelmsford and he could play an important role given that defenceman Anthony Lennon is ruled out and Tim Smith is still a doubt.

"We have been short in defence in recent weeks but I’m confident he will fit right in and help push us on as we try and defend the championship."
