Investigation launched into house blaze.

A man has died in a house fire - despite a desperate bid to drag him from the blazing home.

Firefighters were sent to the house in Main Road, Longfield at around 11.45pm on Monday night.

They rescued two women from the property - who were both taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. But the man, who was pulled from the house by a member of the public, later died.

Neighbours believe the man was in his late 60s or early 70s, and the two women rescued from the property his wife and mother-in-law.

An investigation into the blaze has been launched, but police have said there is 'no indication of third party involvement.'
