Intruders target school's rifle range and pavilion

THIEVES who broke into premises owned by King’s School at Rochester damaged a pavilion and set light to a rifle range.

The break-in and arson attack happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning. To gain entry, the thieves forced a window at the rear of the pavilion near King Edward Road.

From there, they entered the rifle range adjacent to the pavilion and set fire to it.

A spokesman for Medway Police said: “The break in happened between midnight and 1am. It is believed the offenders entered the school grounds from the Vines.”

A spokesman for Strood Fire Station said: “We got the call about 12.50am and the wooden range was well alight. We were there for about two hours as the range was difficult to access. It has been left severely damaged.”

Anyone who may have seen something or who may have information in connection with the incident is asked to contact Medway Police on 01634 884252 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
