Injured driver pulled clear as crash car blazes

A 27-year-old man was taken to hospital after his car caught fire following an accident on the A20 early this morning.

Police were called to the scene at about 5.55am after a BMW, driven by a man from Romney Marsh, collided with a Toyota Hi Lux at Hatch Hill, Sellindge, between Ashford and Folkestone.

The BMW caught fire after the crash and the driver was pulled to safety by passers by.

He was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford. Police say his injuries are not life-threatening, as first thought.

The male driver of the Toyota was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed to allow the Serious Crash Investigation Unit to examine the scene.
