An ice rink had to be closed to skaters on its second full day because the ice was melting.

The Tunbridge Wells ice rink in Calverley Gardens had officially opened on Friday night.

But yesterday a combination of warmer weather and high winds meant the ice was melting, and the rink had to be closed.

A spokesman said: "Due to the unseasonal mild temperature and high winds we are currently experiencing the ice is not freezing sufficiently; therefore for the safety of customers the ice rink was closed."

All bookings for the day will be honoured and the rink was reopened today at 9.30am.

The rink has been put together by a company run by Dancing on Ice judge and former Olympic gold medal winner Robin Cousins.
