Hunt for man's killer continues

MURDER squad detectives on Sheppey are continuing to search for the killer of a 24-year-old man who died in hospital after being attacked in the street.

The victim, Roy Rossiter, of Alma Street, Sheerness, was found in nearby Clyde Street, last Sunday night. He had suffered a serious head injury.

Mr Rossiter, who was unemployed, was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Gillingham's Medway Maritime Hospital. He never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead on Christmas Eve.

The spot where he was found is close to a Chinese takeaway and a public house. Police say they are particularly keen to question a bare-chested man spotted running away from the scene.

Mr Rossiter was unemployed. At the time of his death he is believed to have had a partner and small child.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack. Anyone with information can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
