Hungover drivers beware: you can still be over the limit

HUNGOVER motorists need to think before getting behind the wheel.

That is the message from Kent Highways Services and Kent Police who warn that drivers who have had a few alcoholic drinks the night before could still be over the drink-drive limit the next day.

The warning comes as part of Kent County Council's summer campaign to crack down on drink driving.

Steve Horton, from Kent Highway Services, said: "The morning after drinking, many people may feel a bit rough and have a headache, but they don't associate it with being over the drink-drive limit.

"I would advise anyone who has been drinking heavily to find an alternative to driving if they have to go out the next morning.

"It may seem inconvenient but the alternative could be taxis and public transport for 12 months following a driving ban."

Acting sergeant Mark Lamb, from Kent Police, said: "This has become more apparent since the Government granted pubs and clubs extended drinking hours."
