THOUSANDS of motorists faced traffic chaos this morning after an articulated lorry was involved in a motorway accident. And there are likely to be further delays this evening.

The lorry overturned at around 2.15am on the coastbound carriageway of the M20, just before junction 5 at Aylesford, near Maidstone.

The 40-tonne articulated lorry, which was carrying post, has now been safely removed from the carriageway using a crane.

But the two inside lanes will be closed for the rest of the day due to urgent resurfacing work that will have to be carried out as a result of the accident. Diversions will remain in place.

Kent Police say that nobody was injured in the crash.
