Huge blaze at furniture warehouse

MORE than 90 firefighters are tackling a blaze at a furniture warehouse in a Kent town this morning.

Crews were called at about 6.20am to the site in Dengemarsh Road at Lydd, near Hythe, where they found the 100 metres by 50 metres building well alight.

Fire engines from Lydd, Dymchurch, New Romney, Hythe, Folkestone, Ashford, Aldinton, Tonbridge, Tenterden, Sittingbourne, Larkfield and Canterbury are all in attendance.

A height vehicle and water unit have also been sent to the scene.

Propane cylinders were found and have been safely removed. Neighbouring houses have not needed to be evacuated.

The blaze is under control, but firefighters are now working to stop it spreading to other parts of the site and will be there for some hours.
