Howzat! A piece of cricketing history up for grabs

The first-day cover

This is the special souvenir being produced to mark a major landmark in Kent Spitfires' history.

The keepsake envelope is being released to the public on August 16 - the day Kent play Essex Eagles in the Friends Provident Trophy Final.

In association with Bletchley Park Post Office, the MCC has produced just 250 hand-prepared envelopes carrying a limited edition postage stamp cancelled with a rare Lord’s match day postmark.

The envelope design is a classic painting from the MCC art collection.

The stamps were issued by Royal Mail as a special sheet for the “Going to the Cricket“ exhibition at Lord’s.

Limited edition match day covers are becoming much sought-after, so can be worth much more than the £12.50 issue price.

The cover will be available from the MCC museum on match day and can be previewed in the MCC section of the website at www.bletchleycovers.com.
