Kent Fire and Rescue Service serves 1.6 million people from 66 fire stations across Kent and Medway.
Firefighters deal with a wide range of incidents, from fires to road traffic incidents, and work closely with the other emergency services.
But not all the organisation’s firefighters are whole time; many are retained and have other jobs away from the service but can be called upon at any time to help.
In the latest in our week-long look at the emergency services, we have been speaking to one retained firefighter from Kent. Find out in the video above about what his job entails.
