Hospital meets deadline for deep clean

Health chiefs at Medway Maritime Hospital have met the Government’s deadline for a deep clean.

The Department of Health announced that hospitals must undergo the thorough clean by March 31.

A spokesman for Medway NHS Foundation Trust said:“We took our clean a step further by covering outpatient areas, accident and emergency, theatres and a number of other clinical areas as well as all hospital wards.

“This cleaning was in addition to the comprehensive cleaning programme already in place.

“Staff at the hospital are to be commended for their hard work, particularly facilities manager Jane Walden, general services manager Marion Cogger, head of housekeeping Sylvia Clark and all the ward teams.”
