Horses run down in fog

TWO horses were run down after escaping from a field.

The accident happened in fog on the A21 Pembury bypass, shortly before 1.40am Tuesday.

A Renault Laguna travelling on the southbound carriageway collided with two horses, which died from their injuries.

Three other horses had also escaped and were running across the road.

Police closed the stretch or road until the horses were recaptured and returned to their owners.

The road was re-opened at 5.20am.
