Honeymoon couple killed in plane crash

NEWLY-weds from Sheppey have been killed in a plane crash while on honeymoon in Cuba. Paul Fuller, 38, and his bride Lorrellei Ross, 33, had married in the Caribbean three days earlier.

This is a double tragedy for the Ross family. Lorrellei's daughter Sophie, aged five, died on April 26 last year after a battle with a rare cancer.

Paul and Lorrellei had bought a house in Minster and were starting a new life together. Paul's father Peter, of Scocles Road, Minsiter, said they were devoted to each other.

"They had been going out for two years. Everybody liked Paul. He had taken on a ready-made family. It was supposed to be the holiday of a lifetime."

Lorrellei had two other children, Ben, aged eight, and 10-year-old Sam, from a previous marriage. Paul worked at BAe Systems, Medway, where he was a senior inspector.

Before the newly-weds were killed, they fulfilled Lorrellei's dream of swimming with dolphins. They married on Monday, March 11, and the tragic accident happened at 9.30pm English time on Thursday. The Antonov AN-2 plane crashed close to Santa Clara, about 160 miles from the capital Havana.

All 16 people on board were killed. An investigation is being carried out into the cause of the crash.

Friends were planning a celebration for Paul and Lorrellei when they returned to the Island.
