A man arrested at a house in Kent is due to stand trial today accused of two murders.

Stephen Farrow is alleged to have killed vicar John Suddards and retired teacher Betty Yates earlier this year.

The 47-year-old was charged after being found at a house in Black Bull Road, Folkestone, on Sunday, February 19.

Homeless Farrow's trial is set to start at Bristol Crown Court this morning.

He was discovered by officers from Kent Police in the end-of-terrace house after a tip-off from a member of the public.

Farrow is accused of murdering Mr Suddards, who was found stabbed to death at the vicarage of St Mary's Church in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire, in February.

The second murder charge relates to 77-year-old Ms Yates, whose body was discovered at her home in Bewdley, Worcestershire, the previous month. Like Mr Suddards, she had been stabbed to death.

Farrow also faces a charge of burglary relating to a property in Thornbury.

He was questioned by detectives for four days before being charged with both murders.
