Hit-and-run tragedy: man quizzed

A MAN has been arrested following a hit-and-run incident which claimed the life of a 22-year-old woman.

Hazel Griffin, from Swanley, was struck by a vehicle, believed to be an open-back van, as she stepped out of a parked Renault Clio in Hatherley Road, Sidcup, on Tuesday. She died later in hospital.

A 29-year-old man arrested in connection with the enquiry was taken to a South London police station. The man, from South London, was later bailed to return on April 19, pending further inquiries.

Miss Griffin was an administrative clerk in Sidcup and had been out for a meal and cinema trip with colleagues when the tragedy happened.

A post mortem examination at Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup gave cause of death as multiple injuries.

Police still need witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information is asked to telephone the Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8285 1574.
