Help out this week - with funky shoes!

Kent Air Ambulance week 2008 runs from September 22 to September 28 and serves to raise awareness of the Trust throughout the county.

Communications director Jill Playle said: "It's a week where we can raise the profile of the Air Ambulance, tell people about the work that we do and the vital importance that the Air Ambulance plays in medical emergencies."

Mrs Playle went on to say the service is "vital for the people of Kent because if you are in a serious accident or a serious emergency it is important that someone gives to you the medical attention you need and gets you off to the most appropriate hospital and that is only possible with a helicopter.

"It's a great way of concentrating all our efforts into one week, and gives us a chance to talk to people."

Although fundraising is ongoing throughout the year one event that everyone can get involved in and raise that vital cash is Funky Footwear Friday, taking place on the September 26.

Jill Playle told Kentonline: "They can actually have fun on the Friday and wear some odd shoes, strange shoes or unusual shoes to work, school or college and donate £1."
