Police are hunting the thieves who stole a white, black and brown pygmy goat.

Gladys was taken from a field in Wardwell Lane, Newington, between 5pm on Sunday, February 13, and 7.30am the following day.

Investigating officer PC Lee Duncan, from Sittingbourne police station, said: "Whoever stole Gladys has cut through two lots of barbed wire to gain entry to the field.

"We are appealing to anyone who has information about the theft or who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in the area on Sunday night to contact us.

"Gladys's owner is very upset that she has been taken and is concerned about her welfare, as are we."

The 12-year-old goat, who is valued at £100, is described as very friendly.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sittingbourne Police Station on 01795 419 182 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
