Gunmen hold up security van

DETECTIVES are hunting armed robbers who held up a Securicor van delivering money to a building society.

Police say the security van's crew were targeted by up to three men outside the branch of Nationwide in Watling Street at Gillingham shortly after midnight on Friday.

At least one of the robbers was armed with a gun. Police say no shots were fired and nobody was hurt.

The gang made off in a black BMW. It is not yet known how much money was stolen.

Detectives said the gang members were all wearing masks and dark clothing.

Police have issued an appeal for information. They particularly want to speak to anyone who saw the BMW being driven in the area at high speed. The number to call is 01634 884124.
