Just days after a controversial airport expansion was approved the corks have gone back in the champagne bottles.

The government has urged Shepway District Council to hold fire and not grant planning permission for a new terminal building and a runway until April 22.

That's despite the plans being approved by councilors at a seven-hour meeting on March 3.

The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government wants time to decide whether or not he wants to look over the plans.
